Sunniest cities for 2018

British Summer Time heralds the start of Spring and we have some welcome sunshine to celebrate. So, we wondered where the sunniest places are in the UK and further afield?
In the UK, Eastbourne and Ventnor on The Isle of Wight are the sunniest spots with 1888 hours each (annually). However this doesn't compare well with other European Cities:

It is sobering that Manchester has half the sunshine hours of Malta.
As you can see from this map, the sunniest places in the world are in the western USA and mid-Africa.
The Top 3
Yuma, Arizona has 4,015 hours of sunshine per year,
Phoenix, Arizona 3,872
Aswan, Egypt 3,863
NASA has used its superior views and technology to find the sunniest uninhabited spot which turns out to be a patch of the Pacific Ocean just south of Hawaii.
